| Forum on "Planning for OD - How to Make Your Stakeholders Acknowledge the Elephant in the Room" |
| | What role does the Organisation Development (OD) function play in our organisation when it comes to the annual planning cycle? What can we OD practitioners do to incorporate OD into the planning agenda? When stakeholders discuss strategies to pursue, do they also pay attention to the beliefs, attitudes, values and structures required for the organisation to adapt to these changes? How does the PS21 movement fit into the workplans? How can we as OD practitioners more effectively influence our stakeholders?
Centre for OD warmly invites you to attend this forum on "Planning for OD - How to Make Your Stakeholders Acknowledge the Elephant in the Room". During this forum, you will hear experienced OD practitioners share about the innovative approaches they have employed to make OD relevant in planning discussions. Our colleagues from the PS21 Office will also share with us good practices on implementing PS21 gleaned from the PS21 reports, as well as update us on the refinements made to the PS21 report for FY09.
We believe that in order for the practice of OD to be meaningful, it should be aligned to the strategic priorities of the organisation. This forum serves as an opportunity for OD practitioners to come together and learn from one another. We invite you to join us, and more importantly, learn together with us so that we as OD practitioners can more effectively contribute towards our organisation's performance. |

| Complexity & Sense-Making (A Cognitive Edge Accreditation Programme in Partnership with the Civil Service College) |
| | No matter which sector or environment we operate in, we are bombarded by complexity, paradox and endless changes. Complexity science provides a new scalable approach to understanding strategy for organisations. Switching from a fail-safe design mindset to one based on safe-fail experimentation creates a more resilient technique to managing uncertainty.
If you want to discover practical and pragmatic ways to manage under conditions of uncertainty, and to understand the power of business narrative and discover new ways to use human networks, then this course will provide you with the introductory theory and associated open source Cognitive Edge methods.
Participants will gain understanding of the application of naturalising sensemaking to strategic, organisational and market issues.
The course is held in conjunction with Cognitive Edge's one-day Successfully Designing and Delivering a SenseMaker™ Project workshop. |

| Enterprise Risk Management Forum: "Making RM / ERM Work - From Strategy to Operations" |
| | In today's fast moving and complex world, the operating environment facing organisations can change very quickly. Strategies and processes that were successful before may not be so in the future. Instead of taking the state of the operating environment for granted, organisations now should be keenly aware of the threats that they can face, and take steps to proactively preempt, manage and mitigate the risks. Organisations need to be able to size up risks associated with organisation-wide threats and opportunities, understand them and learn how to manage them. To do this, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is pivotal. There is a need to shift mindsets in the Public Service from a fail-safe mode to a safe-fail mode. A well-instituted and integrated ERM programme can help to foster a culture in which calculated risks are allowed and risk from failures can be mitigated through risk control measures.
At this event, participants will gain valuable insights into new developments of RM/ERM, including strategic and operational alignment, Whole-of-Government positioning, ERM framework, approaches and tools. Also, there will be first-hand sharing of experience by two successful organisations on how an ERM system can be developed, as well as good practices being employed. |

| OD Practitioners Foundation Programme |
| | This is a generative and practice-oriented two-day programme designed to answer the following questions and more: What is OD? What is the relationship between OD and OE? What is the role of the OD practitioners in the Public Service? What are the areas of work that OD practitioners should be involved in? What are the competencies that OD practitioners should acquire?
Centre for OD took special care in ensuring the relevance of this Programme. Seeing the lack of clarity in OD, its roles and functions in the Singapore Public Service, Centre for OD designed the Programme towards addressing those gaps. The Centre hopes that through similar interventions, it can steadily help to raise the profile and competencies of OD practitioners.
This marks the third run of the OD Practitioners Foundation Programme. |

| Risk-Based Performance Measures - A Risk Management Clinic |
| | Commencing November 2009, Centre for OD will be organising a series of clinics on Risk Management (RM) and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) for the public service.
The aim is to provide a facilitated platform for practitioners to raise and discuss issues and challenges related to RM and ERM, with a view to seek greater clarity and resolution to the challenges raised. Facilitated by a subject expert, these clinics would encourage conversation centred on themes.
To kickstart this programme, the first theme will be on Risk-based Performance Measures.
